Grassy Creek Falls
Many visitors to the DuPont State Forest have visited Wintergreen Falls on the Grassy Creek. However, most are not aware of another waterslide on same stream, named Grassy Creek Falls. These falls, which lie on the newly acquired property, are nearly 2 miles downstream of Wintergreen Falls, not far from High Falls and the mouth of Grassy Creek.
The Pisgah Trailblazers have recently opened up a footpath to an observation spot near the base of the falls (see photo below).

Directions to Grassy Creek Falls:
From High Falls, continue over the High Falls bridge and take the Buck Forest Road until it crosses the Grassy Creek Bridge. After the bridge, bear left on the graveled Lake Imaging Road. Look for a small foot trail on the left after only a short distance (there is an old roadbed which angles left off Lake Imaging Road before this footpath, saving a few steps). Follow the footpath down to the viewing location near the base of the falls. |
