Galax Trail Closed

The Galax Trail from the Triple Falls shelter to the highway bridge was closed to all users on August 7, 2010. The closure was necessary because of serious erosion of the trail tread. Recent heavy rains caused deep gullies that have made the trail unsafe. Some sediment was deposited in the Little River. Erosion control measures have been put in place to stabilize the trail until it can be reconstructed. The trail will remain closed until the reconstruction is completed.

Fixing this trail is a high priority, since it prevents equestrians and bikers from traveling between Hooker and Triple Falls.
