Please help us protect our trails. Stick to gravel and spread the word.

Announcement from the NC Forest Service

All single-track trails at DuPont State Recreational Forest will be closed, effective at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019.  Rainfall, heavy at times, is expected over the next 4 days with a total rainfall accumulation expected to be around 8 inches.  This will cause soil conditions to be saturated and susceptible to damage.  Natural trail surfaces are soft and continued use will add to erosive conditions.

Approximately 25 miles forest roads and graveled two-track trails such as High Falls Loop, Triple Falls Trail and Hooker Falls Trail will remain open as conditions allow.

During your visit to DSRF, please pay attention to signage or barricades related to the trail closures. Be aware that all trails, even those that are not closed, may have debris and slippery conditions so use them at your own risk.  Be extremely careful at creek crossings, as water levels may be higher than normal.

Forest officials will monitor conditions for improvement and re-opening for next week.

We appreciate the public’s cooperation and support to help us protect the trails.
