Over 500 people came out to celebrate National Public Lands Day (Sept, 25th) at the 4th annual DuPont Forest Festival.
The Festival was jam-packed with exciting outdoor adventures and activities such as….
Educational hikes with Danny Bernstein, Blue Ridge Humane Society, Conserving Carolina and Patty Stahl. Group rides with Sycamore Cycles, Blue Wall Adventures and Jody Treadway and Lisa Lazzaro. Valley Hill Farms showed off their tiny horses and helped spread the “share the trails” message with help from our friends at Pisgah Area SORBA. Mills River Partnership educated visitors about invertebrates in our rivers and MountainTrue hosted an invasive plant activity. Steve Longnecker was there with his birds of prey, and Smokey Bear made several appearances delighting kids and adults alike.
Thank you to all our partners and friends who joined us to share their expertise and celebrate all the adventures found in DuPont State Forest.
A special thank you to all our volunteers and our hard working Forest Festival Committee.
