Know Before You Go

DuPont Forest trails are used by hikers, bike riders, and equestrians. By knowing who to yield to, everyone can enjoy a safe, fun outing.

Bike Riders:

  • Yield to hikers and equestrian
  • Control your speed
  • Look around curves

Hikers:

  • Yield to equestrian
  • All dogs must stay on leash

Equestrians:

  • Communicate with other users

Stay Safe and Be Courteous:

We thank all visitors for their respectful enjoyment of the trails. Please do your part to help keep DuPont Forest trails safe and open to all

  • Be very careful near waterfalls!  Visitors die every year at waterfalls in the area. The wet rocks are very slippery so stay out of the water.
  • Do not block gated entrances with your car.
  • Do not cross the marked boundary of DuPont State Recreational Forest. Do not enter restricted  property.
  • Wear bright colors during hunting season.
  • The longer trails are for experienced people with topo maps.
  • There are 90 miles of trails & dirt roads in this area; take proper precautions in case you get lost.
  • Keep all dogs on a leash.
  • Pack out all trash.

DuPont State Forest Rules

  • The Forest is open daily, 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Do not climb on rocks.
  • Jumping or diving from waterfalls is prohibited.
  • Swimming or wading upstream of waterfalls is prohibited (within 300 feet of the waterfall).
  • All pets must be on a physical leash and under control at all times.
  • Camping is not allowed on DSRF.
  • Areas or trails designated “No Entry,” “Do Not Enter,” or “Authorized Personnel Only” are prohibited to trail users.
  • Alcohol and illegal controlled substances are prohibited.
  • Fires and charcoal grills are not allowed on any part of DSRF.
  • E-bikes are prohibited
  • Most trails in the Forest are multi-use and multi-directional.
