Mike Stewart is a Massachusetts native and made his way to Greenville, South Carolina via a transfer opportunity with TD Bank in 2013. He quickly fell in love with the mountains and pristine forests throughout the region. “My first experience hiking in the area was at DuPont. I was hiking 20+ mile stretches of the Forest with a group of folks that were training for the CureSearch hike back in 2013 and I absolutely fell in love with DuPont Forest,” he says.

While realizing that the region was rapidly growing, he decided to help and get involved with many local organizations such as Upstate Forever, Friends of the Reedy River, and Save Our Saluda. In 2018, Mike ran for a seat on the Greenville County Soil and Water Conservation District Commission and won. TD Bank recognized Mike as their 2019 CEO Award Winner for Environmental Leadership Award from Maine to Florida. And February 2020, Mike was elected by County Soil & Water Conservation District commissioners in the 11-county West Piedmont Region to represent them on the South Carolina Association of Conservation Districts board.

Mike is also a part of the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue Transport Network and also occasionally transports injured raptors for Wild at Heart out of Piedmont, SC. He is also a big advocate for the importance of bats. “I have loved bats ever since I was a kid. They are amazing mammals and are widely misunderstood. I hope that I can encourage folks to learn and respect how critical they are to our ecosystem,” he said.

Mike is a Credit Analyst for TD Bank and when he’s not working, you are likely to find him supporting his community through his volunteerism or supporting a local brewery for a pint. “I look forward to seeing you on the trails!”
